To turn a video link into text on iPhone, copy a supported public YouTube, Instagram or X link into Damas and use the transcription workflow. The result is a written transcript of the speech, which you can review against the video before editing or copying your notes.
Check the video before you start
Choose an on-demand video that is publicly available and no longer than 90 minutes. Private videos, restricted content and live streams are not supported. Use only content you have permission to process: being able to open a link does not establish that permission.
Damas requires iOS 18.6 or later, an internet connection, Premium and consent for AI processing. Check these requirements before you submit a long video.
From link to transcript
- Open the eligible video on its original platform and copy its link.
- Open Damas on your iPhone and provide the video link.
- Choose the available transcription task and review the AI consent before continuing.
- Allow time for processing. Background processing and notifications help you return to the result.
- Read the transcript alongside the original video. You can edit and copy your notes.
These are task-level steps; wording and screen layout can change between app versions. Use the current app instructions if a screen differs.
Make the text reliable enough for your task
Pay particular attention to names, numbers, specialist terms and passages with overlapping speakers. Listen again to unclear sections rather than guessing. Keep the original link with your notes so you can return to the context.
Processing availability and duration vary with the source, audio and connection. A transcript is generated text and can contain errors. For a quotation, verify the exact wording in the original recording. For translation or a shorter overview, continue with the related guides after checking the transcript.
